Willenberg Award Dinner 2015
Following these remarks the Christian Josef Willenberg medal was introduced by Alexander Kravcov and Vaclav Pospichal.
This is a new initiative of the Department of Building Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, in association with the Willenberg Foundation and Czech National Safety and Helth Construction Coordinators Organisation (ČSSK ČSSI).
It is important to understand that Christian Josef Willenberg was able to acquire his knowledge as an engineer during his military service in Régiment d'Alsace of the French Army of Louis XIV.
In time of War of the Spanish Succession Christian Willenberg came home in Böhmen lands and starts with forcing Emperor about importance of foundation of a special school of engineers. Thank to this with the Rescript of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph I, on the 18. january 1707 first engineering school in Central Europe was created.
The Willenberg Medal was established to honour him and as a reward to outstanding his will about creation of the First Engineering School that is actually the Czech Technical University in Prague in nowadays.
The Christian Josef Willenberg Award Committee decided to give the Medal to:
· Jiří Petrák for his long years experience in design, supervision and management of the bridges and transport infrastructure projects, both in UK and overseas. Great special qualification in steel bridges and engineering structures design, fabrication inspection and construction technologies.

· Stanislav Rolc for his long years of experience as research scientist and leading of the Material Engineering Branch of Military Research Institute. His professional activities are focused mainly on Material Engineering and Terminal Ballistics, Research and development of advanced materials and structures intended to use in passive, reactive and active blast and ballistic protection. Relations between structure and high strain rate phenomena in polymers, metals, ceramics and composites.
The medal was then awarded by Dr. Vaclav Pospichal to laureates, with the congratulations of the Selection Committee. Dr. Alexander Kravcov of Czech Technical University in Prague presented laureates with a diploma.

The award was named for the first Professor of Building Engineering in the Central Europe, founder of the Prague Technical University and military engineer Christian Josef Willenberg (1676 - 1731).
