INFORMATION BULLETIN OF THE TU IN ŽILINA

OPENING

The Conference was opened by Prof. Ing. Zdeněk Dvořák, PhD., Dean of the Faculty of Security Engineering in Žilina, Dr. Vaclav Pospichal and Dr. Alexander Kravcov both from CTU in Prague, and Prof. Pavel Manas with a welcomed word to the delegates, Col. Pavel Manas also expressed his appreciation to Prof. Vladimir Křistek, for making time in his busy schedule to participate in the opening ceremony. The Conference programme, Dr. Lucia Figuli explained, is particularly important to achieve the main objective of this meeting, ie. the global dissemination of knowledge and bring together the international community.

The Meeting was characterised by the high degree of interaction among the participants. There were numerous discussions during the sessions as well as outside the conference rooms. The delegates enjoyed the extended coffee and lunch breaks, which allowed them a better degree of interaction.

CONFERENCE DINNER

The conference banquet took place in a restaurant Adria renowned for location and for its meat specialities. The dinner consisted of a series of typical starters, followed by sea scallops and a main course of local veal. The wines were the excellent local czech white eds.

The conference was the occasion of awarding the Willenberg Medal to the 2016 candidate, Jindřich Frýdl. The ceremony was presided by the Col. Prof. Pavel Manas, Prof. Vladimir Křistek and Dr. Alexander Kravcov.  

Dr. Alexander Kravcov opened the act, inviting Prof Pavel Manas to say a few words about the history of Joseph Cristian Willenberg and Prof. Vladimir Křistek about the person and personality of Jindřich Frýdl. The Prof. Křistek then proceeded to award the medal to Jindřich Frýdl and invited him to personal speech.
