PROTECTION OF MUNICIPAL AREA AGAINST

TECHNICAL SEISMICITY

Effect of the technical seismicity on the residential structures brings mainly negative implications. The origin of the technical seismicity could be, inter alia, heavy traffic, oscillations of power generators or blasts. The latter ones seem not controversial. The blast technology developed formulas how to diminish seismicity and safety distance is the first factor to be calculated and tested in praxis. Despite of this fact, calculations and tests appear failed sometimes followed by negative attitude of local residents involved. This article tries to explain one case, when geology brought extra factor which has not been incorporated into approved calculations.
